NEED any help getting in the festive spirit closer to Christmas?

Well, St Elphin’s church are garnering the Christmas spirit with a concert at the church on Saturday, December 18 at 7.30pm.

Carlos and choral music will get visitors humming tunes for the rest of December.

Gemini Musical Theatre Company have been back rehearsing in person since September 2021 and kept up weekly rehearsals via Zoom during the lockdown periods.

Now, they are nearly ready to go in-person.

Chairman Danny Shaw said “This year is very special. We have all been looking forward to performing for so long and are working very hard to ensure we can give our audience an evening they won’t forget. Throughout the last few months the group has kept in regular contact via Zoom and we have even put together concerts via Zoom with some wonderful individual performances. We have all missed performing to a live audience in person and we are certain this concert will make everyone smile and it’s a fabulous way to start the festive period.”

Steve Rayner, the society's musical director who is responsible for pulling the programme together, added:

“This year, we have put together a programme of traditional festive music, some old favourites and a number of extremely popular and challenging pieces such as Rutters ‘A Gaelic Blessing’ and ‘Star Carol’ as well as old favourites ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’.

“We have also included a number of rousing classics such as ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and ‘Wishing you were somehow here again’ from Phantom of the Opera, as we want everyone to feel this is a very special evening.”

Tickets are £10 and can be bought on 01925 601773
