A MAGICAL winter wonderland has been created for children to explore.

Tatton Park is preparing to welcome families to their festive event, inspired by One Snowy Night which opens on Saturday, November 27.

The gardens have been transformed to bring Nick Butterworth's much-loved children's story to life.

One cold winter's night Percy the park keeper hears a tap at his door and finds a squirrel on his doorstep seeking shelter from the snow.

In minutes, more little friends turn up and Percy, who always feeds the animals, finds a way to help them all.

Three Christmas trees have been delivered to create an interactive trail

Iconic illustrations from the story decorate the garden route for families to follow fun activities along the way.

Gardeners are also preparing spring bulbs so that children can help with planting.

Vicky Rowbotham, one of Tatton Park's managers, said: “Bringing One Snowy Night to life in Tatton’s magical winter garden is a real team effort and brilliant fun.

"The installation comes after weeks in the planning and working with different teams at Tatton and our talented suppliers.

"In the days leading up to the event, it’s all hands on deck and a real test of everyone’s imagination, creativity, and stamina. "Especially when it comes to the best places for photo opportunities with Percy cut-outs, which we think people will love.
