GREAT Sankey Market returns this weekend and it will be going green and supporting the environment.

More than 70 small, independent businesses will be attending and there will also be live music by Olly Flavell on Saturday, November 20 at The Woodlands Pub.

Lisa Cowley, of Independent Street, said: “On the back of COP26 We are thrilled to be joined for the first time by Refill, Reuse and Renew.

“There has never been a more important time to be kind to our planet and we are delighted to be showcasing them this Saturday.

“Visitors are urged to bring their own containers or they can use one of theirs and be talked through how it all works.

“There will be plenty of festive treats and Christmas shopping inspiration. We are packed full to the rafters with the very best of northern and local producers.”

Pies, street food, cakes, doughnuts, jams, chutneys, cheeses and artisan olive oils bottled in Great Sankey can be purchased.

Visitors can also get cheesecakes, roasted coffee beans, vegan deli stalls, Indian delicacies, arts, crafts, jewellery and Christmas wreaths that will also be available.

As well as this Saturday, it will also take place on the third Saturday monthly between 10am - 4pm.
