THE town centre site formerly home to the Register Office will be used for public services following a refurbishment.

After moving from its previous home on Museum Street, the Register Office is now fully operational at the council’s new Time Square offices with all services, including marriages, taking place.

The council has been asked what the vacant Museum Street site is going to be used for in the future.

A spokesman said: “The property will continue to be used for public services following refurbishment. More information will be provided shortly.”

Time Square is the council’s flagship town centre regeneration scheme.

As well as the council offices, the £142.5 million development also comprises sites including Cineworld, The Botanist, a new market and a public square.
