A FERRET was rescued by firefighters after getting wedged between two concrete fence posts in Appleton.
RSPCA inspector, Caren Goodman-James attended the incident after the ferret was found by a member of public at Acton Avenue.
But Caren realised the ferret could not be freed by hand, so asked for assistance from Cheshire Fire Service.
The fire team used their equipment to push the fence posts apart and were able to free the animal – which the RSPCA believe is probably an escaped pet.
Caren said: "The ferret was well and truly stuck and was obviously very frightened - but once freed it was clear the animal was not injured.
"It was a good job the ferret's predicament was spotted and we were able to rescue him and I am very grateful to Cheshire Fire Service for their help."
The ferret is now in the care of the RSPCA's Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre in Nantwich.
If no owner comes forward the ferret will be found a new home.
