A MOTORIST was taken to hospital following a crash on the M6 yesterday, Sunday.

The accident occurred on the northbound carriageway between junction 21a for Croft and 22 for Winwick and Newton-le-Willows at around 10.20am.

It involved a heavy goods vehicle and a car.

Firefighters from Warrington, Birchwood and Lymm fire stations, as well as a fire crew from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, rushed to the scene at 10.30am.

One man was removed from the car by firefighters and handed into to the care of paramedics.

Once he was removed from the vehicle, fire crews made the scene safe.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: “A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with no major injuries.

“An ambulance, advanced paramedic and a response vehicle attended the scene following a 999 call at 10.19am.”
