ORGANISERS of the New Year’s Eve Dip at the Golden Sands in Whitehaven are hoping lots of people will join in the freezing fun and give a boost to many charities.

After not being able to run the event last year as a result of the pandemic, the organisers have announced this year's event will be taking place on December 31. Timings will be posted on their Facebook page.

At the last swim, more than 150 braved the cold to say goodbye to 2019.

John O’Brien, one of the founders of the annual event, which has been running for 24 years, said it was the biggest turnout they had ever seen.
