A COUPLE were reportedly stabbed by three men in an alleyway in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The pair were attacked with a knife near to the One Stop shop in Gorse Covert at around 12.30am on Thursday, October 14.

It is understood that a man was slashed to his hand with the weapon, while the woman sustained facial injuries.

Cheshire Police have now confirmed that they have identified the victims following initial reports on social media.

A force spokesman said: “Police are appealing for information from the public following reports of an incident in the Gorse Covert area.

“On Thursday, October 14, officers became aware of a post circulating on social media in relation to an assault in the area.

“At that stage, no incident had been reported to police and no-one had come forward to identify themselves as a victim.

“Following a number of enquiries, officers have now located and spoken to a man and a woman in connection with the incident.

“The pair, who do not want to take the matter any further, confirmed that they were involved in an altercation with three unknown men in an alleyway near to the One Stop shop.

“The incident is believed to have taken place at around 12.30am on October 14.

“As a result, the pair sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital by a member of the public.

“They were both discharged a short time later.”

The constabulary’s enquiries into the incident are continuing however, and witnesses are urged to come forward.

Sergeant Stuart Gibbard added: “I understand the concern that this incident has caused, and I want to reassure the local community that we have now spoken to the victims.

“They do not wish to take the matter any further, however we are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries in the area.
