ARMED police and a helicopter were called out in the early hours of Saturday over reports of a man possibly possessing a firearm.
At around 3.30am, officers attended an address on Suez Street in the town centre and arrested a 35-year-old man.
Carl Sullivan, of Suez Street, Warrington, has since been charged with possession of cannabis, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Sullivan was remanded in custody and appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Monday.
He will now appear before Liverpool Crown Court next month.
The incident follows reports from Orford residents of gunshots heard on Friday night, however police have confirmed there were no shots fired.
