A TOTAL of four community groups in Handforth have received donations totalling £5,000 thanks to a homebuilders' fund.

The funding pot was created by Anwyl Homes to help not-for-profit organisations close to its new development at The Fairways, off St Georges Way.

The groups that have received donations are Time Out Group, Handforth Scouts, Handforth Model Engineering Society and Friends of Stanley Hall Park.

Thomas Bradley, senior sales manager for Anwyl Homes in Cheshire, explained: "There are many wonderful organisations working hard in the Handforth area to provide activities and support for their community.

"Many of them are volunteer groups and rely on goodwill donations to fund their services.

"As our way of giving back, we invited groups to apply for funding from a £5,000 community fund, via our ‘Love From Anwyl’ initiative.

"We’re honoured to have now shared that money with four organisations in Handforth, who are already doing so much to enrich life for residents."

One of the groups to benefit is the Friends of Stanley Park.

It is raising money to complete a 650m walking and running track to ensure the park, which already features two play areas – a multi-use games area, skate park and picnic area – is fully accessible.

Janet Taylor, secretary of the group, said: "Friends of Stanley Hall Park is a group of like-minded people with a varied skill set who have come together to renew, replace, refurbish and install leisure equipment in Stanley Hall Park in Handforth.

"Our work relies entirely on grants from the private sector and we are delighted Anwyl Homes have selected us as recipients for a grant from their community scheme.

"The funds will go towards completing the restoration of the perimeter path which will enable us to install a fit trail to add to the facilities already available to park users.

"The Friends group would like to thank Anwyl Homes on behalf of the community for supporting our work so generously."

Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to 224 new homes being built at The Fairways.

It’s in addition to local investment agreed during the planning process.
