TEENAGE rider Joe Talbot comprehensively defended his Pirelli Super Series 600 Championship title with a hat-trick of wins at Caldwell Park, writes Jonty Banks.

The Warrington motorbike rider, who turns 18 later this month, went flag-to-flag in all three races of the weekend, culminating in a 19 second victory in the final race.

Talbot, who studied at Lymm High School, was victorious in 12 races throughout the season, finishing an impressive 74 points clear of his nearest competitor.

After the final weekend, Talbot said: “I started off really well on Saturday, qualifying on pole.

“It continued to go well with a P1 in Race 1 on the Saturday which secured my second Super Series 600 Championship with two races left in the bag.

“Races two and three on Sunday also went to plan, P1 in both, making it three out of three wins, with timings close to my PB.”

He admitted: “It was really good to have fun on my bike and I am learning different things all the time.”

Talbot could yet have further success as he fights to close the 13-point gap to title rival Jack Nixon entering the final weekend of the BSB Junior Superstock Championship at Brands Hatch.
