THE majority of Warrington areas recorded rises in their coronavirus infection rates this past week.

In total, 15 communities saw rises in Covid-19 infections over the most recent seven-day period, while eight saw cases fall and two were unchanged.

The area which saw the largest rise was Appleton Thorn, Stretton and Walton, where the number of new virus cases detected rose by 23 compared to the previous week.

However, Padgate and Paddington experienced the largest fall – down 14 cases on the week previous.

Infection rates are published using Public Health England figures via an interactive map on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard.

At the time of writing, the map displayed the number and rate of new cases in each area of Warrington in the seven days up to September 25.

  • Orford – 34 (379.5 – down 3 cases)
  • Blackbrook – 34 (366.2 – down 5 cases)
  • Appleton Thorn, Stretton and Walton – 33 (505.4 – up 23 cases)
  • Fairfield and Howley – 33 (278.6 – up 3 cases)
  • Latchford – 31 (319.2 – up 17 cases)
  • Kingswood and Whittle Hall – 29 (272.7 – no change)
  • Bewsey and Dallam – 26 (308.9 – up 2 cases)
  • Hood Manor and Sankey Bridges – 26 (288.8 – no change)
  • Central Warrington – 26 (224.9 – down 1 case)
  • Appleton – 25 (443.4 – up 10 cases)
  • Padgate and Paddington – 25 (286.3 – down 14 cases)
  • Great Sankey – 24 (326.8 – up 8 cases)
  • Houghton Green and Fearnhead – 24 (300.9 – down 6 cases)
  • Winwick and Burtonwood – 23 (366.8 – up 11 cases)
  • Culcheth East and Hollins Green – 23 (360.8 – up 8 cases)
  • Woolston – 19 (280.3 – up 4 cases)
  • Hulme – 19 (229.3 – down 9 cases)
  • Culcheth West and Croft – 16 (222.3 – up 3 cases)
