A COMMUNITY rugby league club is hoping to install floodlights at its home ground.

Crosfields ARLFC has lodged the application for planning permission with Warrington Borough Council as part of the proposed improvements to its base in Hood Manor.

The four pylons would be erected on the training pitch located furthest away from the houses on Hood Lane, running parallel to Cromwell Avenue.

This would allow the facility to be used during winter evenings.

Submission documents stated: “The proposal will be for the lighting to be used at specific times, between 5pm and 9pm during October to March, to allow training to happen on the pitch.

“This is to increase participation across winter, allowing the club to utilize the training area more effectively and increase participation and club membership across the full year.

“Hopefully this will also support the plans to increase sports participation in the local area during the winter period, allowing the introduction of more teams – including touch rugby, women’s rugby and increasing attendance at the venue by existing youth players.

“This proposal is being supported by the Rugby Football League, and the Rugby League World Cup grant process.”
