THEY are one of the most talked-about gifts to yourself or others – and they are not easy to come by.

PS5 – the latest version of the PlayStation console – has kids and adults alike scouring sites to see where they can get their hands on one.

The device is nearly a year old, having launched in November 2020, but demand continues to outstrip supply with retailers selling out instantly.

And with only 87 shopping days until Christmas, demand has again increased in Warrington as parents search for the must-have gaming item.

It appears that stock issues are likely to continue for the foreseeable future, however there is some hope as Game in Golden Square has been taking pre-order deposits this week, with limited stock expected to arrive over the weekend.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said yet at other stores in the town. We spoke to Smyths Toys Superstore, at Junction Nine Retail Park on Winwick Road, which said it does not know when stock will return but will advertise any pre-orders on social media.

Likewise Currys PC World on the retail park and Argos at the Cockhedge Centre also have no stock currently, either in store on online.

Currys did say it will continue to hold ‘VIP draws’ to reserve the item over the coming weeks.
