A GROUP of volunteers have dedicated their time and effort over the summer to keep Warrington’s parks clean and tidy.

And they say that people saying ‘thank you’ here and there makes all that they do worth it.

Over recent months, members and friends of New Song Network Methodist Church have carried out litter picks in five Warrington parks.

These took place on Sunday mornings in Queen’s Gardens, Westy Park, Victoria Park, St Elphin’s Park and Bank Park, with the group collecting more than 30 bags of rubbish.

Kit Heald said: “Part of the church’s ethic is to be involved in the community as much as possible.

“It was often quiet when members were out, but most people who passed by thanked the collectors for what they were doing.

“The appreciation was well-received, and it was equally good to see the parks looking a bit cleaner and tidier.”
