THOUSANDS of residents lined the streets of Warrington for the Tour of Britain yesterday.
As well as welcoming elite racers such as Mark Cavendish and stage winner Ethan Hayter to town, school children and disabled cyclists were invited to pedal the final stretch of the route on Sankey Street.
Several of our elected members also took part in a councillors’ race.
Meanwhile, the tour’s event village in Bank Park was packed with racegoers enjoying the festivities – including stalls, displays, food and drink, circus performers, exhibits from race partners and a bike museum.
The race was also broadcast on a giant television screen ahead of its arrival at the Golden Gates.
