A FORMER criminal investigator is celebrating a ‘massive milestone’ in her new handmade food business as she has sold her 1,000th platter.
Angela Berry started Share Luxury Platters in the lockdown of last year after she decided to turn her passion into a business.
At just one year old, Angela’s business sold it’s 1,000th platter two weeks ago.
The 56 year old said: ‘‘I enjoyed making the 1,000th platter and presenting that one just as much as I did the first and can really see the development and improvement in them.’’
When Angela, from Westbrook, was receiving treatment for breast cancer in 2017 she was then diagnosed with a heart condition during a pre-op.
After having cancer treatment she immediately had to go to Broad Green Hospital to undergo open heart surgery.
These health conditions made Angela re-evaluate her life, which is when she decided to take early retirement and create a new business doing what she loves.
She said: ‘‘I’m glad I got breast cancer because I would have been dead by now.
‘‘I’m very lucky I’ve found a job where it is something that I love to do.
‘‘Before I started my business I would always have people round and I’d make platters as part of dinner parties and things.’’
The artisan luxury sharing platters are made with produce from local suppliers such as Holly's Farm and Snoutwood Trotters and all packaging is biodegradable.
There is a choice of British, Mediterranean, vegetarian and Fusion platters in addition to an indulgent dessert selection.
Angela added: ‘‘We have the unique conception of our fusion platters where you can have a choice of two platters in one box, our vegetarian – British fusion is very popular.
‘‘It combines everything cohesively, however is cleverly separated.
‘‘I always thought that vegetarians didn’t have many options so I really worked hard to provide a vegetarian platter with plenty of tasty homemade options.’’
