MAJOR roadworks at a key junction in south Warrington will begin on Monday for a month.

New traffic lights and pedestrian crossings will be added to the Chester Road, Ackers Road, Grappenhall Road and Lumb Brook Road junction on the border of Grappenhall and Appleton.

Work starts on Monday and runs until September 3 between 7am and 7pm.

This scheme will include the replacement of all signal equipment, cabling, ducting and associated footway surfacing. In addition, we're taking the opportunity to enhance the junction to incorporate a pedestrian phase across three of the junctions.

Drivers will be banned from going northbound between Lumb Brook Road and Grappenhall Road/Chester Road.

While temporary signals will be added.

The existing traffic lights at Stockton Lane and Lumb Brook Road will be turned off and the junction will operate as a give way, for turning right only.

Warrington Borough Council says it will be managed on a daily basis depending on how the work goes.
