The number of new Covid cases in Warrington this past week

According to data released by Public Health England for the week up to July 31, which is the most recent period for which figures are available, 666 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the town through lab and rapid lateral flow testing.

This demonstrates an infection rate of 317.1 cases per every 100,000 residents, which is the 66th highest rate in England compared with all other local authority areas.

Comparatively, the previous seven-day period up to July 24 saw 902 virus cases detected at a rate of 492.5.

Warrington is among 285 of 315 local areas in England that have seen a week-on-week fall in case rates (90 per cent), while 30 have seen a rise (10 per cent).

Lincoln continues to have the highest rate in England (749.3), followed by Exeter (559.3) and Hull (525.4).
