THE battle for Warrington Wolves’ half-back positions hots up with George Williams getting the green light to start the primrose and blue chapter of his career.

His fellow England international Gareth Widdop is battling to return from injury and with Blake Austin currently holding down the stand-off position head coach Steve Price is going to have some tough calls to make when all three are available.

If he wants all three in his starting line-up, Austin could move to loose-forward, or Widdop to full-back – but that would mean shuffling other players around.

“It’s a great headache to have,” said Price, keeping his cards close to his chest. “I have got three quality players."

In the meantime, Price has heaped praise on the role ‘Austo’ played in The Wire’s 21-8 win against Wigan on Wednesday night.

He said: “I thought Austo came up with some really big moments against Wigan – the push support try off Daryl Clark which he scored, the cross-kick just before half time, and the field goal.

“Defensively I thought he was really solid on the left edge.”
