GEORGE Williams is confirmed to be in the Warrington Wolves starting line-up against Leeds Rhinos tomorrow.

Head coach Steve Price says his new signing is in good condition despite having not played for several months and is looking forward to finally pulling on the primrose and blue after joining the club on July 8.

He is expected to be in the halves with Blake Austin, meaning a return to full-back for Stefan Ratchford.

"George will make his debut. It's exciting for him and also exciting for our football club," said Price.

"He's in our starting 13 and he's excited for the challenge."

Price said that not too much expectation is being placed on the England international on his first appearance.

"He hasn't played for a while and there's not a huge amount of expectation from our end," he said.

"It's more about getting out there, defending well, kicking strong and doing the things that he does well - that's his running game. We just want him to enjoy himself."

Williams was released by NRL side Canberra Raiders on May 26 and his ability to get back on the rugby field with Warrington was initially scuppered by the Covid-19 outbreak in the camp.

"He's done a lot of individual training but it's been hard with the team being shut down for a number of weeks and then this week having a short turnaround from Wednesday night's game," said Price.

"But you don't get to where George has in the game if you don't understand the game well.

"He gets it. He's won Grand Finals, he's played for his country, he's challenged himself over in the NRL and has played enough rugby league to understand what it looks like and what it takes.

"As a club have the utmost confidence in him.

"He's only had a couple of training sessions with the team. He gives the players around him a lot of confidence and he's in good condition."

Price was asked what he feels Williams will bring to The Wire in the coming weeks and months.

"He will certainly add value to our team. He understands what it takes to win big games and he's a winner," said Price.

"I haven't got any set plans down the track. It's about Leeds tomorrow and the team putting in a really strong performance.

"I thought George's combination with Blake Austin in the last couple of sessions has been class.

"He's played enough games to understand what works. His style of play is very direct, he's got a really good running game and a very good short kicking game too."

The Wire boss wants his side to build on what they achieved in Wednesday night's win against Wigan at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

"I was really pleased with our defensive attitude against Wigan and I was really proud of the boys in that regard," said Price.

"However, we've got to be much better with the ball. Our application to our detail around our offense structures needs to be better.

"I'm confident the boys can go out there and deliver a really strong performance tomorrow."
