HERE are the latest official statistics on the spread of coronavirus in Warrington as cases continue to fall.

Data from Public Health England showed that in the week before July 25, the most recent period for which figures are available, a total of 829 positive cases were returned in the town.

This demonstrates an infection rate of 394.7 per 100,000 people which is the 62nd highest in the UK compared with all other local authority areas.

The previous seven-day period up to July 18 saw 1420 cases recorded at a rate of 676.1.

Of the 315 local areas in England, Warrington was amongst the 313 that have seen a week-on-week rise in rates, whilst two areas  have seen a fall.

Middlesbrough continues to have the highest rate, with 1,125 new cases in the seven days to July 25 - the equivalent of 798.0 per 100,000 people.

Redcar & Cleveland has the second highest rate, at 767.0 per 100,000 people followed by Stockton-on-Tees with a rate of 681.5, per 100,000 cases.
