THE Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership is supporting a 74-foot model railway exhibition on show in Chester.

Pete Waterman’s 74-foot ‘Making Tracks’ Model Railway Exhibition that is currently on show at Chester Cathedral until September.

Alongside the Model Railway Exhibition, which stretches the full length of the nave at Chester Cathedral, the Mid Cheshire CRP is displaying its Marvellous Days Out railway poster art along with posters from the North Cheshire Line which connects Chester to Warrington via Helsby and Frodsham.

Created by acclaimed Chester artist Nicky Thompson, the Mid Cheshire Line Gallery includes posters of Knutsford, Northwich, Lostock Gralam and Delamere along with Manchester, Stockport, Altrincham, Hale, and Chester.

John Hulme, a director of the Mid Cheshire CRP has also authored the 16-page full colour Souvenir Booklet for the Exhibition.

John Hulme said: "It has been a privilege for the CRP to support Chester Cathedral and Pete Waterman with their 'Making Tracks' Model Railway Exhibition.

"The Model Railway is based on the West Coast Main Line and celebrates the life of railway engineer, Thomas Brassey, who was born near Chester and has a bust and wall mosaic in the St Erasmus Chapel at the Cathedral.

"Our poster gallery sits alongside the Exhibition and is there to remind visitors of the great places to visit on the Mid Cheshire Line including Delamere Forest, the Anderton Boat Lift at Northwich, the Lion Salt Works at Marston and Knutsford with its shopping and eating places.

"With many visitors travelling from afar to visit both the cathedral and the exhibition, the gallery is a unique pictorial platform to promote local tourism on the Mid Cheshire Line especially as schools break up for the summer holidays.

"The Exhibition opened on July 16 and is open every day, other than Sundays, until Friday September 3."

Chester artist, Nicky Thompson said: "I am delighted to be working with community rail in Cheshire again.

"A Model Railway Exhibition in the extraordinary setting of Chester Cathedral could not be a better venue for the Marvellous Days Out railway poster gallery."
