NO new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Warrington Hospital in the past 24 hours.

The good news was confirmed by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust this afternoon, Wednesday, in its daily Covid-19 update.

It means that the trust’s virus death toll remains at 508.

At present, Warrington Hospital is caring for 26 patients that have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 14 days or less.

Of this number, five are in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

This is the exact same number as yesterday in both the hospital in general and ICU.

Four more patients were discharged from the Lovely Lane site over the past day however.

As a result, the hospital’s virus discharge total since the start of the pandemic has risen to 2,102.

Across Warrington as a whole, the number of new coronavirus cases recorded over a seven-day period has fallen for the second day in a row.

Data from Public Health England showed that in the week before July 23, the most recent period for which figures are available, a total of 965 cases were detected in the town.

This demonstrates an infection rate of 459.5 cases per every 100,000 residents, which is the 60th highest rate in the UK compared with all other local authority areas.

The previous seven-day period up to July 16 saw 1,356 cases recorded at a rate of 645.7.

Of the 315 local authority areas in England, Warrington was among 93 per cent that saw a fall in infection rates, while seven per cent saw a week-on-week rise.
