ANOTHER death has been recorded at Warrington Hospital of a patient who had contracted coronavirus.

The sad news was confirmed this afternoon, Tuesday, by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in its daily Covid-19 briefing.

It means that the trust’s virus death toll has now risen to 508.

At present, 26 beds at the Lovely Lane site are occupied by patients that have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 14 days or less.

Of this number, five are in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

This is a rise of two patients in total, including a rise of two in ICU.

Four more patients have been discharged from the hospital in the past 24 hours however after recovering from Covid-19

This brings the trust’s virus discharge total since the start of the pandemic to 2,098.

Across Warrington as a whole, the number of new cases being recorded has decreased.

Data from Public Health England showed that in the week before July 22, the most recent period for which figures are available, a total of 1,085 cases were detected in the town.

This demonstrates an infection rate of 516.6 per 100,000 people which is the 59th highest in the UK compared with all other local authorities.

The previous seven-day period up to July 15 saw 1,281 cases recorded at a rate of 610, which shows a decrease in the town’s Covid rate.

Of the 315 local areas in England, Warrington was among 56 per cent that have seen a fall, while 43 per cent have seen a week-on-week rise and two remain unchanged.
