THE weekend was a landmark for Warrington – no, not the Olympic ceremony – the reopening of nightclubs in the town centre.

So, I thought I’d join the clubbers out in force for the Friday evening.

Bridge Street was, as you would expect after the clubs being shut for 15 months, busy with people keen to get in and throw a couple of shapes (you wouldn’t want to see mine).

We couldn’t get in PJs for being too late and it being very busy – although everyone looked to be having a great time.

We got into Voodoo pretty easily with a little queue and it did not disappoint. The music was bouncing, drinks were flowing and it genuinely put a smile on your face to see so many people enjoying themselves.

It filled up some more and will have been sure to have some new visitors too – with Showbar shutting a few months back.

House, dance and pop music was blasting out – and there were still a couple of Phil Foden-themed haircuts from the Euros knocking about.

Reef was next on the agenda. Voodoo passed with flying colours, it was time to see whether the late-night club would do so too.

To be honest, you could have thrown a nightclub event on a desert island and people still would have enjoyed it with it being the first night back but Reef was once again bouncing and busy.

A few of us darted off despite Warrington producing a very solid night out.

I can’t tell you how tempting ‘The Best Kebab House’ and ‘Mama Mia’ looked on the way home, but my bank balance will be thankful I decided against it.

As it has been noted on our social media channels, Warrington may not have the nightlife it once had, but the reopening weekend exceeded expectations in the best way.
