A SELF-taught baker from Sandymoor is celebrating the first anniversary of her business.

Gabrielle Walsh launched her baking business, Gabrielle’s Little Bakery, last summer after she began baking in the lockdown.

Prior to lockdown, Gabrielle had little baking experience however she now owns her own baking business selling bespoke treats such as celebration cakes, cupcakes, tray bakes, treat boxes, sugar cookies and ‘cakeicles.’

The 25 year old’s business has a five star hygiene rating as well as five star reviews on Google and Facebook.

Gabrielle has said the support she has received from local businesses, family and friends means ‘so much.’

She said: ‘‘Never did I imagine to become a full-time baker.

‘‘Especially during the first lockdown, I was worried people would be cutting back as celebrations were put on hold but it wasn’t the case at all.

‘‘I think people still wanted to make the effort to surprise loved ones despite being stuck inside for so long.

‘‘Even now with freedom at our fingertips, I think people are making the most of things and going the extra mile, so it’s worked out either way.’’

Gabrielle’s goal is to keep on making people happy with her cakes and eventually start her own franchise of cake shops.
