TWO popular stalls at Warrington Market have temporarily closed due to a positive coronavirus case.

Both Andrew’s Fish, Game and Poultry and Warrington Fruit and Veg will now be closed until further notice.

A statement on the market’s Facebook page said: ‘‘We’ll of course update you all as soon as we know when the teams will be back up and running.’’

Commenting on the post, Gary Jones said: “Just to let you know Andrew and the family are all ok. Just doing the right thing.”

The rest of the market at the Time Square site remains open.

More than 625,000 people have visited the £11m Warrington Market since it opened in July last year.

A Warrington Market spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, Andrew’s Fish, Game & Poultry and Warrington Fruit & Veg, which are run by the same family, will be closed until further notice.

''This is due to one family member having to isolate after testing positive for coronavirus.

''All others identified as close contacts have tested negative, but the businesses will remain closed for now as a safety precaution.

''We are working closely with our traders and the council to support those affected and have implemented our risk assessments to reduce the risk of further transmission.

“We will continue to follow our COVID-secure procedures, in line with the current national guidance, as we have been doing throughout the pandemic. ''We apologise for any inconvenience these closures may cause and look forward to both traders re-opening in the near future.

''An update will be provided as soon as possible via our social media channels, so please follow @warringtonmkt on Facebook and Twitter for more information.”
