ALL lanes have reopnened after a full carriageway closure was put in place on the M6 following a serious crash this morning, Wednesday.
The accident happened shortly before 5am involving a black Audi car and a white Peugeot van. Paramedics were sent to the scene.
The northbound carriageway was closed between junction 21a for the Croft Interchange and junction 22 for Newton-le-Willows.
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed that two people, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital as a result of the crash.
The man sustained shoulder and chest injuries, while the woman suffered and hand injury.

The closure is now in place and Traffic is being taken off onto the M62 Eastbound and Westbound.

According to reports, traffic is heavy and stretches back to junction 21 for Woolston.
Delays are also present on the M62 westbound between junction 9 for Winwick and 10 for the M6, and eastbound between junction 11 for Birchwood and 10 for the M6.
The carriageway was closed for clean-up work of debris and a fuel spillage and recovery work.
Highways England and North West Motorway Police said: “Please allow extra time for your journey and thank you for your understanding and patience.”
