FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a fire broke out at a partially built retail park unit yesterday evening, Monday.

Three fire engines – two from Birchwood Fire Station and one from a station in Greater Manchester – were dispatched to JunctionNINE Retail Park at 5.39pm.

On arrival, they found that a fire had been lit in one of the partially built units to the north of the site near Cromwell Avenue.

Warrington Guardian:

A large number of boxes and pieces of wood had been set on fire, creating a large amount of smoke.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to tackle the fire.

Crews then used hose reel jets to dampen down and prevent the fire from reigniting.

Warrington Guardian:

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the fire is being treated as deliberate.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1041165.
