A FORMER borough councillor has sadly died.

Cllr Billy Lines-Rowlands, who served as a Labour councillor in the Poulton North between 2012 and 2016, has passed away. He was believed to be 37.

The flag at the Town Hall flew at half-mast last week in recognition of his service.

Council leader Cllr Russ Bowden says all council members and officers that knew him were shocked and saddened by the news.

“Cllr Billy Lines-Rowlands was a Labour councillor serving the Poulton North ward from May 2012 until May 2016,” he said.

“During his time as a councillor, he was a member of the protecting the most vulnerable committee, licensing, traffic and the health and wellbeing overview and scrutiny committee.

“He was also the deputy chair of the scrutiny committee during the civic year 2013-14.

“All council members and officers that knew Billy were shocked and saddened at the news, particularly at such a young age.

“We extend our sympathies and condolences to Billy’s family and friends.
