MORE drop-in coronavirus vaccination clinics have been organised in Warrington in a bid to offer more residents protection against the virus.

As of July 4, which is the latest data to which data is available, 145,990 residents in the town had received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine.

It is hoped that the clinics will take this total past the 150,000 mark, with all residents aged 18 and above who have not already had their first jab encouraged to pop in.

Orford Jubilee Hub is welcoming unvaccinated adults on Wednesday, July 21 between 4pm and 7.30pm, with no booking required.

A second clinic is also open at Warrington Hospital every day this week up to and including Saturday, July 17, between 9am and 3pm.

The hospital vaccine clinic is also open on Sunday, July 18, between 1pm and 3pm.

Again, no prior booking is required, although appointments can be made via warrington.nhsbookings.com, with free on-site car parking available.

Despite the success of the rollout, some staff at care homes in Warrington have not been fully vaccinated.

The figures show 1,716 out of 2,141 eligible staff, including agency workers, at older adult care homes had received two doses of a vaccine by July 4, meaning 20 per cent have not been fully vaccinated.

The Government plans to make the jab mandatory for staff over concerns for residents.
