A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after falling into a ditch yesterday afternoon, Thursday.

The 74-year-old man was rescued by firefighters from Warrington Fire Station after receiving a 999 call shortly before 5pm.

Crews rushed to Manchester Road near Paddington Meadows, located the man and helped him out of the ditch.

He was then passed into the care of paramedics with minor injuries to his head, who took him to hospital in an ambulance as a precaution.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to Manchester Road, Warrington, following reports of a man having fallen into a ditch.

“The casualty, a 74-year-old man, was rescued by firefighters and handed over to paramedics with injuries believed to be minor.”

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service added: “An ambulance was sent to Manchester Road following a 999 call at 4.39pm.

“A man in his 70s was taken to hospital with injuries to his head and face.”
