TWO people were taken to hospital following a crash on a major route yesterday, Thursday.

The collision, involving a car and a van, occurred on the Daresbury Expressway at around 11.30am.

Both drivers managed to free themselves from their vehicles, however the road was closed while emergency services were in attendance.

They are not believed to have sustained any serious injuries as a result of the crash.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 11.30am on Thursday, June 17, police were called to reports of a collision on the Daresbury Expressway in Runcorn.

“Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a white Renault Kangoo and an orange Lexus UX.

“Nobody was trapped as a result of the incident, although the road was closed while emergency services dealt with the collision.

“The drivers of both vehicles – a 29-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman – were both taken to hospital.

“They are not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.”
