THE husband of an inspirational mum who shared her cancer journey via a blog has paid tribute to his wife after her passing.

Sarah Louise Clare, from Stockton Heath, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year.

The 45-year-old started her blog, the Big ‘C’ Word Girl, to document her journey to inspire those experiencing a similar situation to herself and spread positivity through her humorous personality.

And her positivity had a huge outreach, with more than 1,000 likes on her Facebook page.

Sarah, originally from Penketh, was a member of cabin crew with TUI and had three children, Thomas, 17, William, 15, and Evelyn, five.

She sadly died on May 31.

Her husband, Gareth Hughes, said: ‘‘She was very caring, obviously very strong willed, and determined in everything she did really.

‘‘She loved her family and her job and there’s just so many memories of her.

‘‘It was her humour, she was witty, she could kind of draw anyone in really.

‘‘Once you knew her, that was it – you were friends for life.

‘‘She offered love to everyone that she met.

‘‘I miss her, I miss her a lot.’’

Sarah and Gareth were together for 10 years.

Thanks to kind donations from friends and family on a JustGiving page, the family were able to go on two trips before she sadly passed away – enjoying a weekend away at Alton Towers and another at Centre Parcs.

Gareth added: ‘‘It was great to have time with her.

‘‘And unfortunately, that’s all we managed to fit in, those two breaks.

‘‘It was really emotional how thoughtful and caring people were towards her.’’

Sarah’s parents also spoke of how strong she was, and how she was a funny person that everyone knew and loved.

They also said how determined Sarah was, and how ‘she loved her children very much.’
