A CULTURAL Quarter bar is the latest to temporarily close following an outbreak of Covid-19.

In an announcement on Facebook, Institution said that a number of staff have tested positive for the virus after a rise in coronavirus cases in the area.

The restaurant and cocktail bar is based in the Treasury Building in Palmyra Square.

The statement added: "With the support and advice from Public Health England and Public Health Warrington, we have collectively agreed for the safety of the staff and customers that we will not be opening this weekend.

"Apologies to anyone who has booked in, we hope you understand. Please stay safe and we hope to see you all next week."

The venue is expected to reopen on Thursday, June 17, and it is understood customers with bookings have been contacted directly to let them know.

As previously announced, PJ’s in Bridge Street will also be closed on Friday and Saturday due to staff members testing positive for Covid.

The temporary closures come as Warrington enters the 50 areas in England with the highest rates of new coronavirus cases.
