CHILDREN'S charity The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust had a reason to celebrate after a tough past 18 months.

The Millington-base charity near Lymm raised an impressive £18,000 at their 21st Annual Golf Day which was held at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa on May 27.

Twenty six teams, including two teams from Bright Futures Care, Warrington had a fantastic day of golfing at the prestigious club, which began with breakfast in the Mere suite before playing 18 holes in the glorious sunshine with plenty of fun and fundraising en-route.

Competitions on the course included Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin, On the green in one and Beat the Pro with The Mere Golf Academy, all expertly run by the charity’s fantastic volunteers.

Events organiser at CAFT, Pippa Watton commented: “This was such a fantastic day – and we were blessed with sunshine for a change!

"After such a difficult year, it was wonderful to see our supporters coming out to support CAFT. All were in fine spirits and all enjoyed playing this beautiful course.

"As ever, we must thank our wonderful volunteers for their hard work both leading up to the day, and at the event itself.

"It really did feel fantastic to be back fundraising again after such a strange year.

"The money raised will help us to provide much-needed day visits and holidays for children from all over the north west.

"We really can’t thank our sponsors and golfers enough for making this possible.”

Professional photographer, and CAFT ambassador, Andrew Collier, gave up his time yet again to document the day and a number of amazing supporters provided vital sponsorship and in-kind donations.

A grand raffle raised a phenomenal £1,030 with prizes donated by Pulse Of Perfumery, and Cheshire Cookery School, to name a few.

Competition prizes were presented at a relaxed American-themed barbecue dinner with regular supporter Charles Mitchell Wines providing fabulous cases of luxury wine for the winning team BlueMoon Telecom.
