THE family behind Kenyon Hall Farm are marking a decade since they opened the doors to their farm shop and café on Thursday.

Celebrations will include a huge birthday cake baked by the catering team with enough slices for the first 100 visitors, balloons, decorations and party hats and 10 per cent off everything all day in the shop, café and plant centre.

The Croft farm, where families can pick their own fruit and veg when in season, has been in the Bulmer family for more than 500 years but it was in June 2011 when the year-round shop and cafe launched.

Since then, the Winwick Lane attraction has had more than one million visitors, grown 200,000 pumpkins and served about 400,000 cups of coffee.

Owner Tod Bulmer said: “It feels like only yesterday that we opened the farm shop and café here at Kenyon Hall Farm – I honestly couldn’t believe it when I realised we’d been open for 10 years.

"With us being open seven days a week all year round, we don’t really get chance to stop and reflect on what we’ve achieved – like all farmers, we just keep going.

"It’s been a privilege to serve our community with fresh food and drink over the past decade and we’re eternally grateful for the support we’ve had along the way, not just from our customers but from our network of farmers and our amazingly dedicated team.

"We hope to continue growing and look forward to still being here in another 10 years and beyond."

Manager James Bulmer, Tod's son, added: “When my mum and dad built the farm shop and café in 2011 it was the culmination of their life-long ambitions and I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve created.

"I hope they’ll be around for a long time to come and that I can help continue their incredible hard work in making the farm a great place to visit for future generations.

"We’ve seen a surge in interest during the past year as more and more people want to shop locally, which has been fantastic to see and gives us great optimism for the future. Here’s to the next 10 years."
