IT was a true sign of the times for police while out patrolling the area over the weekend.

Current officers were able to relive happy memories when they came across a classic cop car after pulling into Lymm Services.

After entering the M6 service station for some respite and to train a new member, officers from Cheshire Police’s Roads and Crime Unit came across this blast from the past.

The Hillman Imp cop car was built in 1964 and was used by Durham and Cleveland Police.

It seems a world away from the modern BMW used by current officers, but it brought back happy memories from times gone by.

Police said they had a good chat with the private owner, as well as interested members of the public, about advances made in policing over the past 50 years.
