GETTING to talk to Manchester City stars like Ilkay Gundogan, Benjamin Mendy and Nathan Ake is not something that happens every day.

But for St Wilfrid’s Primary School pupil Abigail Salt, not only did she do that, she played her part in a viral joke – or lack of a joke for a better word.

In the video ‘Young fans ask our players the tough questions’, Mendy’s joke involving strawberries and horses – lost in translation - left Abigail and fellow City fan Zayan silent.

The Frenchman then rather amusingly changed his profile picture on Twitter to his face at the time almost waiting for a laugh and made Abigail and Zayan his header.

The young fans even fitted in a yawn for Gundogan talking about broccoli, so it was only right that Abigail went from interviewer to interviewee.

“I found it exciting that I was doing it. The experience was great because we gave them some tips and they gave us some tips,” nine-year-old Abigail said.

“I like to ask lots of questions, I want to know what’s going on as well,” she giggled.

Abigail is also part of Lauren Kelly Casting, a performing arts training centre, that runs alongside their academy based in Grappenhall's Community Centre.

As well as enjoying her interviewing role, she also loves playing football at the Grappenhall school.

“I would actually like to be a footballer like them so they kept on giving us tips.

“Because of the bubbles (at school) we play on different sides so I’m very happy when we’re on the side where we get to play football.

“We have to play each class different days because we’re too rough so I’m really excited when it’s our days.”

Mum Carrie Salt added: “I am really proud. It just brings out her confidence as well and to be able to have these opportunities is amazing.

“We just couldn’t believe the publicity it got for a prep talk for Manchester City and how big it was.”
