AN ultra-marathon competitor is launching a new business aimed at getting people out running and exploring different areas of Warrington.

Sarah Branwood, from Padgate, is the founder of Geo Races, where keen runners or beginners can sign up to cover six routes around the town and complete the Tour of Warrington.

The working mum, who has been running for 10 years and has finished two ultra-marathons in the past, has designed six different courses, which vary between six and seven miles, allowing competitors to run or walk the distance and win a medal.

The routes include the Appleton Amble, Croft Crawl and Birchwood Blast as well as Lymm Lash, Sankey Scoot and Woolston Wobbler and people can sign up for a single event or the series of six.

A single event costs £16.99 and six events costs £69.99 with runners being sent a route map as well as a finishing medal, with all six medals piecing together to form a map of Warrington.

Sarah said: “I know many people have used running and fitness to survive lockdowns and the pandemic and I hope we are heading towards some kind of normality again.

“Geo Races allows you to run your own race at a time that suits you following our specially created routes.

“Whether you’re a trail runner, a walker, a hiker or a new runner, it doesn’t matter as it’s open to everyone.”

The 34-year-old has plans for later in the year to launch a Halloween themed run in October where families can complete a 5km race together or individuals can pledge to complete a half marathon.

Sarah said: “The main aim of Geo Races is to encourage people to explore their local areas and discover routes that they might never have seen before.

“It will give people the motivation to get outdoors and stay active and promotes positive mental well being while earning a sparkly medal in the process.”
