Three talented students at Cronton Sixth Form College have secured places On a summer school programme at a top university.
Max Barnes, Freya Richardson Fay and Daisy Christcoli all applied for the prestigious UNIQ summer school course at the University of Oxford, beating off tough competition to be given a place.
The A Level students, who are all part of the student leadership team, had to demonstrate their academic ability and provided impressive tutor references during the application process.
UNIQ summer school was introduced by the University of Oxford in 2010 and aims to help A Level students meet current university students, giving them the opportunity to explore their favourite subjects with world class academics and prepare for the university application process.
Freya said: “I found out about the course through Prestigious Universities Programme at Cronton.
“My tutors have been fabulous throughout the application process, they are always signposting us to new opportunities and are really quick to reply when you need help.”
Daisy is hoping that the experience will help her decide whether the subjects she has chosen - history and politics - are the ones she wants to study at university.
Max added: “I feel that the scheme will really help me when it comes to applying to university, especially with aspects such as writing the personal statement.
“The application to university can be quite daunting but UNIQ will hopefully make the experience less stressful and more straight forward, while preparing me for the expectations of university.”
