IF you enjoy quizzes and are available tonight, Thursday, you could help a Warrington mum in her fundraising efforts to receive groundbreaking medical treatment.

Louise Hulme is currently facing the toughest fight of her life – battling a brain tumour that threatens to take her away from her devoted family.

The brave 48-year-old, who lives in Fearnhead, received the devastating diagnosis after suffering severe headaches at the end of 2019, which doctors suggested could be migraines.

It was after Louise, who used to go to the gym five times a week and was extremely fit, had a particularly bad headache while out with her mum and sister on January 2 last year.

She was rushed to Warrington Hospital and, after several tests, was told she had a brain tumour the following day.

Louise was operated on less than three weeks later at the Walton Centre with 90 per cent of the tumour being removed and was told it was stage four brain cancer.

Her husband Kevin and her two children, Charlotte and James, are trying to raise enough money to fly her to the United States to take part in a revolutionary medical trial.

The Pamiparab trial at the Ivy Brain Tumour Centre in Phoenix, Arizona, would take nine weeks and costs £150,000, with flights and accommodation also required.

To help the family reach their goal, an online quiz is being held tonight, with all money raised going directly to the Hope for Louise GoFundMe page.

So far, more than £85,000 has been donated through the page.

Louise’s friends and family were donated a professionally hosted quiz by QuizLive, however the short notice means that it has to be held tonight at 7pm.

The evening will include a family quiz, bingo, raffle and the auctioning of amazing prizes, including a week-long staycation in north Wales, a three-night stay and fishing experience in Scotland, a signed Manchester United shirt and much more.

Warrington Guardian:

The quiz does not require participants to speak or be on video, so it is perfect for families who want to settle down while taking part in some light-hearted and fun quizzes.

Tickets cost £10 and can be bought via quizlive.co.uk/?tribe_events=13-05-21-hopeforlouise-fundraiser-quiz-live-on-zoom

Husband Kevin previously told the Warrington Guardian: “With a little love from family, friends and others touched by cancer around the world, we hope we can get over this hurdle and get on a plane to the States very soon.

“I hope that we are able to raise the funds and I hope that the trial is effective and gives Louise an extended life expectancy.

“I hope that she is around to watch our daughter get married next year and our son turn 21.

“I hope that, in time, another trial or cure is found to rid the world of this horrible disease.”
