MONDAY, May 17 will see the return of a whole host of attractions, including Ellesmere Port's Blue Planet Aquarium.

The aquarium, being an indoor attraction, had to remain closed while places such as Chester Zoo were able to reopen last month, as part of Government Covid regulations.

But from next week, Blue Planet Aquarium, located by the Cheshire Oaks retail park, will be reopening its doors to welcome visitors, with lots of changes and new additions to its offering.

Visitors and members to Blue Planet Aquarium can expect to see a brand new exhibit called Nature Walk, where visitors are invited to take a stroll among the local fauna and flora surrounding Blue Planet Aquarium. The pond provides a wonderful natural habitat for many different native species to flourish.

There will also be the chance to see two new species of shark.

The aquarium added black tip reef sharks and short tailed nurse sharks to its collection of one of the UK’s largest shark collections.

Visitors can see them up close from the aquarium's 71-metre underwater tunnel or the impressive floor to ceiling display.

General Manager Odin Morris explained: “The team are so excited to reopen and welcome visitors back to Blue Planet Aquarium. They have been working so hard behind the scenes that it’ll be a very proud moment to see people enjoying the attraction and all its new additions!”

Blue Planet Aquarium is open daily 10am-5pm (last entry 4pm) and has full Covid-19 safety measures in place.
