A PENKETH mum, dubbed Tinsel Tracy after running a Christmas Day ultra marathon, has been scaling new heights of success.
Tracy Halligan has just completed a mammoth ‘Race Across The Alps’ virtual challenge where she clocked up an incredible 1,592 miles over a consecutive 78 days.
Sadly due to Covid restrictions she had to run on a treadmill and through the streets of Warrington – and her exploits earned her second place and a ‘silver lady’ title. She completed the final 86 miles in 24 hours without any sleep!
Tracy came eighth overall out of 300 male and female runners as part of her GB Ultras running club. She describes her exploits as the ‘hardest thing I’ve ever done’.
Tracy ran 75 half marathons, one metric marathon, a full marathon, an ultra marathon and then a night session – all back-to-back.
“I had until November to finish the challenge and coming second in the female category is a great achievement,” she explained. “After running all those miles I think I need a new pair of trainers!”
Tracy will be back in her Santa outfit as Tinsel Tracy in December with a new fundraising challenge.
