A POPULAR market is set to return to Great Sankey this weekend following a debut event last month.

The Woodland Pub on Liverpool Road is the venue for the independent market.

It takes places on Saturday and the impressive lineup for May includes 55 local artisans and small independent producers.

Lisa Cowley, one of the organisers said: "It is fast becoming a fixed date in everyone's diaries.

"Working alongside the Great Sankey Parish Council and showcasing local community groups such as The Animal Welfare Charity we can't wait to be back.

"There will be local pie producers (we know Warrington loves its pies) street food, epic cakes, tasty treats, local gin sellers, awesome ice cream, deli, handcrafted jewellery, arts, craft plants and summer hanging baskets and more.

"There really will be something for everyone."

The market will also feature its youngest maker – Lilly Aghanian who is from Great Sankey and aged 12.

With the help and guidance of her family, Lilly set up her little business Boozbeads during lock down.

She has her own Etsy page selling bracelets and rings that specialise in Pride Themes.

Lisa added: "We are delighted to be showcasing such young talent and really admire Lillys entrepreneurial skills and enthusiasm."

The market runs on the third Saturday of the month.

It is open from 10am until 4pm.

Entry is free and the event is dog friendly
