Five Warrington areas record three or more Covid-19 cases

This demonstrates the progress being made by the town’s vaccination programme, with a quarter of adult residents having received both doses.

The areas with the highest number of new cases – Stockton Heath and Hillcliffe and Fairfield and Howley – only saw five recorded over the most recent seven-day period.

This is a far cry from the height of the pandemic, with some areas seeing outbreaks of more than 80 cases in a week.

In total, coronavirus is virtually non-existent in 20 out of 25 areas in Warrington – the equivalent of 80 per cent of the town.

This is according to an interactive map published on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard.

At the time of writing, the map displayed the number and rate of new cases in each area of Warrington in the seven days up to April 24.

Here is the number of new cases (rate of new cases per 100,000 people and change in case numbers from the previous week) in each area of Warrington:

• Stockton Heath and Hillcliffe – 5 (54.8 – down 2 cases)
• Fairfield and Howley – 5 (41.7 – up 2 cases)
• Hood Manor and Sankey Bridges – 4 (44.3 – up 2 cases)
• Latchford – 4 (41.2 – up 2 cases)
• Woolston – 3 (43.4 – no change)
• Bewsey and Dallam – fewer than 3
• Winwick and Burtonwood – fewer than 3
• Culcheth West and Croft – fewer than 3
• Penketh and Cuerdley – fewer than 3
• Culcheth East and Hollins Green – fewer than 3
• Central Warrington – fewer than 3
• Kingswood and Whittle Hall – fewer than 3
• Great Sankey – fewer than 3
• Callands and Old Hall – fewer than 3
• Houghton Green and Fearnhead – fewer than 3
• Orford – fewer than 3
• Locking Stumps – fewer than 3
• Appleton Thorn, Stretton and Walton – fewer than 3
