A budding ballerina has given the performance of a lifetime and secured a place at a national ballet school.
Darcie McQuillan, from Great Sankey, will be starting the new term in September at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham as one of ten girls selected for a scholarship.
The 11-year-old was one of 900 girls shortlisted in the preliminary auditions earlier this year and after another tough round of assessments, she was offered a place.
Darcie, who is in year six at Park Road Primary School, has been dancing since she was three and for the past three years she has trained every night at Nazene Danielle’s Dance Dynamix in Liverpool.
Her place at the boarding school in Birmingham will mean the youngster will spend time doing her schoolwork but dedicate more hours to an intensive training regime.
Mum Hannah said: “Darcie has been dancing since she was three and she’s always wanted to be a ballet dancer.
“This is her dream and she can’t wait to start in September.”
Darcie and her younger sister Dolly, who is eight, will also be representing England in the Dance World Cup in August, being one of four dancers selected in their respective categories.
