A Woolston-based afternoon tea company has marked its fifth anniversary by winning a regional award.

Mobile afternoon tea parlour Room Forty was founded in 2016 by Jen Perry setting up the perfect daytime treat in customers’ homes.

Rooms are dressed in 1930s style and traditional, homemade afternoon tea is served to guests on fine vintage china.

The micro bakery has been named mobile bakery company of the year at the Manchester and North West Prestige Awards 2020/2021.

Five years ago, Room Forty also established its baking school delivering classes across the north west and has now taught more than 500 people how to bake bread, cake and biscuits.

Jen makes and bakes everything for her afternoon teas in her five star-rated kitchen in Woolston and will be celebrating with a cup of tea today, Wednesday, which is national tea day.

She said: “It is lovely to have received this award just prior to Room Forty’s fifth birthday.

“I really can’t believe that my little business is five years old.

“I’m so lucky that it has been a success and that I am able to do the job that I love.

“It is all down to the support of my wonderful customers who have been even more fabulous during lockdowns, when I started doing boxed afternoon tea deliveries.

“We will be celebrating our win and our anniversary with a cup of tea on national tea day.”
