HUNDREDS of shoppers are flocking to Warrington town centre as many shops opened for the first time this year.
Golden Square was busy this morning, Monday, as lockdown restrictions first introduced in January were relaxed.
Large queues were still in evidence at lunchtime with Primark and JD Sports particularly popular as people looked for their fashion fix.
The new outdoor eating and drinking area under the old Fish Market canopy was also busy.
Lindsay Albon, from White Lace Cakes in Golden Square, said she has been impressed by the response this morning.
She added: "I didn't think it would be this quick that the town would spring back to life."
Elsewhere in town, hairdressers have been packed with people waiting in line to get their first hair cuts of the year.
Shoppers also were waiting more than half an hour to get into Ikea after it reopened its doors.
